Nivada Grenchen Antarctic Glacier

The Antarctic Glacier 35mm is a Swiss hand-wound watch with a two-tone silver tuxedo dial: vertically brushed silver at the centre, an anthracite outer ring, shiny silver applied steel indexes and light Old Radium luminous dots. At 35 mm and 10.1 mm thick, it keeps the compact size of the vintage Antarctic.

The model follows the discovery of 18 original Antarctic Glacier dials and vintage ETA movements at Cenic Watches, in Grenchen. Those pieces became the Antarctic Glacier Vintage; this 35mm version continues the story with a new Swiss hand-wound movement and a design inspired by the 1960s Antarctic Diver.

Winding becomes a daily ritual. The Soprod P054 manual-winding movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 42-hour power reserve, with hours, minutes, seconds and date. The 316L stainless steel case, shiny and brushed, measures 42 mm lug to lug under a double-domed sapphire crystal, with a signed push-pull crown. The closed 316 steel caseback carries the penguin engraving and a gold medallion. Water resistance is 5 ATM, or 50 m.
